Serenity Meditation Rugs

The Rugs Journey:
All of the rugs use 100% highland sheep wool from Tibet. The Highland sheep live at elevations over 16,000 feet exposed to extreme natural conditions. The raw wool that is gathered and transported over the Himalayas into Nepal is some of the most resilient wool to be found in the world. Do to the high lanoline content this wool maintains its luster over time as well as allowing for durability and resistance to dirt. Once the wool is transported it is washed, hand carded, hand spun and hand dyed. The rugs are then hand-knotted using the distinctive Tibetan knot, where the wool is wrapped around a metal rod and clipped when a row is completed to create the pile. Each rug is unique reflecting the high vibration which all beautiful handmade objects carry. Each 3'x4' rug can take up to 200 hours to complete. When completed on the loom the rug is finished off with subtle clipping around the designs. The excess warp yarns (fringes) are fastened under the carpet and trimmed on the back with a cotton strip dyed to match the rug to protect the selvages from wear.

Faith or Practice:
